Georgia Council of Supervisors of Mathematics

The Georgia Council of Supervisors of Mathematics (GCSM) is an organization of mathematics leaders in the State of Georgia. 

The purpose of GCSM is:

  • To improve mathematics instruction and teacher education programs,
  • To provide information regarding mathematics education,    
  • To cooperate with other organizations for the improvement of mathematics education.
If you are a math coach, instructional leader, coordinator, supervisor, math mentor etc., GCSM is for you!

Georgia Council of Supervisors of Mathematics Outstanding Leadership Award Nominations

The GCSM Outstanding Leadership Award is presented to a member of the organization who demonstrates excellence and strong leadership in mathematics education. As a leader, this award recipient gives much to others beyond the classroom as a mentor, advocate, and global contributor to the improvement of mathematics education. The awardee is a math leader, which is professionally active, and promotes the GCSM mission. 

The nominee has contributed to improving Math Instruction & Teacher Education Programs

  • Leadership position to improve education
  • Serves on committees
  • Delivers professional  learning
  • Supports the RESA, GADOE and/or post-secondary education
  • Mentoring of new mathematics leaders

The nominee has contributed in providing information service regarding mathematics education

  • Advocates for mathematics education
  • Attends October session & annual conference
  • Volunteers for committees
  • Serves as an officer
  • Regular communication with mathematics professionals
  • Use of social media to provide information

The nominee in has contributed by cooperating with other organizations for the improvement of mathematics education

 Pamela Weber Harris

The Texas State University 


Pamela Weber Harris is the new lead author of Discovering Advanced AlgebraAlgebra Problem Strings, and Advanced Algebra Problem Strings and author of Building Powerful Numeracy for Middle & High School Students, Lessons & Activities for Building Powerful Numeracy, and Building Powerful Numeracy: A Facilitator’s Guide.  A former secondary mathematics teacher, Pam currently teaches at Texas State University, is a K-12 mathematics education consultant, a T3 (Teachers Teaching with Technology) Instructor, and an author and coauthor of several professional development workshops.  Pam presents frequently at conferences.  Her particular interests include numeracy, sequencing tasks, technology, assessment, and vertical connectivity in curricula in schools K-12.
